Seeing Our Businesses Through Someone Else's Eyes

Yesterday's Networking with Tisha and Deb meeting was one of the most impactful and memorable gatherings we've had.
As business owners, we're accustomed to introducing ourselves, sharing our elevator pitch, and explaining what we do. But this month, we challenged our members to do something completely different. Instead of presenting their own business, each member partnered with another attendee, spent time learning about their business, and then introduced their partner to the group.
What happened was nothing short of incredible.
As members listened carefully to one another, they discovered details, strengths, and stories they may have never heard before. They asked thoughtful questions, uncovered unique aspects of each business, and gained a deeper understanding of how their fellow members serve clients and customers. More importantly, they learned the kinds of referrals that would be most valuable for each business owner.
When it came time to present, something magical happened. We were able to see ourselves through someone else's eyes. Members highlighted strengths that business owners often overlook in themselves. They spoke about the passion, dedication, expertise, and impact they observed. Many of us left with a renewed appreciation for our own businesses and a greater understanding of the value we bring to our communities.
This exercise also demonstrated one of the most powerful aspects of networking: truly knowing the businesses within your network. Referrals don't happen simply because we exchange business cards. They happen because we understand each other's services, recognize opportunities, and can confidently connect people with the right resources. By taking the time to learn about another member's business, everyone became better equipped to be an advocate and referral partner.
The room was filled with encouragement, laughter, insights, and genuine connections. It reminded us that networking isn't just about talking—it's about listening. It's about building relationships strong enough that others can tell your story when you're not in the room.
Yesterday's meeting strengthened our network, deepened our relationships, and gave every member a fresh perspective. We left inspired, better informed, and more committed than ever to helping each other's businesses grow.
Thank you to everyone who participated and embraced the challenge. We can't wait to see the referrals, collaborations, and opportunities that come from the connections strengthened during this powerful meeting. Together, we continue to connect, collaborate, and grow.
